Expression Pattern :

Pattern  Transgenic animals carrying a gfp reporter gene fused to the promoter region of flp-13 (Pflp-13::gfp) (strain NY1121) show GFP expression in six cell bodies in the ventral nerve cord. Their positions correspond to that of the six DD motor neurons. To confirm their identities, Pflp-13::gfp animals were simultaneously stained with antisera against GABA (red) and GFP (green). Within the ventral nerve cord, six neurons were consistently observed that colocalized GABA and the Pflp-13::GFP (yellow). These are the cell bodies of the six DD motor neurons. Thirteen additional motor neurons were stained by the GABA antibody (red) but not by the antibody to GFP in Pflp-13::gfp animals. These correspond in position and number to the VD mns. Thus, flp-13::gfp reporter represents a gene that is expressed in the DD but not in the VD motor neurons. Primary Identifier  Expr3715

Definition Name Synonym Primary Identifier
Neuron class of six motoneurons, with cell bodies in the ventral cord, which innervate dorsal muscles. Each cell has a short, posteriorly directed and a longer, anteriorly directed process emanating from its cell body. The anterior process has a branch, which leaves the ventral cord as a commissure and runs round to the dorsal cord. DD neuron   WBbt:0005270
