RNAi :

WormBase ID  WBRNAi00086809 Phenotype Remark  Injection led to a severe reduction in the fertility of the derived F1 progeny: 47% of F1 animals were completely sterile, whereas an additional 39% had brood sizes of < 10 (n = 210). An analysis of affected animals revealed pleiotropic defects within the germ-line and somatic gonad. These included a failure of gonad arms to elongate, missing or abnormal oocytes and sperm, and morphogenetic defects of the uterus and vulva (Fig. 5B).From these results, we conclude that FZR-1 function is required for viability and that ku298 encodes a hypomorphic allele of fzr-1.
Remark  paper remark: Exact sequence used for RNAi not stated by authors, authors said fzr-1 750-bp genomic spanning exons 12 was used. Curator used 852 bp of fzr-1 genomic sequence (spanning exon 1-2) in WS227.

Identifier Name Description
WBPhenotype:0000684 fewer germ cells Germ cell populations are reduced compared to control animals.
WBPhenotype:0000399 somatic gonad development variant Any variation in the progression of the components of the gonad that are separate from the germline proper over time from its formation to its mature structure compared to control (Wormatlas).
WBPhenotype:0000900 germ cell morphology variant Any variation in the morphological appearance of germ cells compared to control animals.
WBPhenotype:0000695 vulva morphology variant Animals exhibit variations in the gross structure or organization of the reproductive organ required for depositing eggs and for influencing male mating behavior compared to control.
WBPhenotype:0000289 uterus morphology variant Any variation in the form, structure or composition of the portion of the somatic gonad which encloses the fertilized eggs after their passage through the spermatheca compared to control (Wormatlas).
WBPhenotype:0000188 gonad arm morphology variant Any variation in the 'arm-like' form, structure or composition of the specialized tissue of the reproductive tract that produces gametes compared to control. In C. elegans the reproductive tract in the hermaphrodite has two equivalent gonad 'arms', while the male has a one-armed gonad.
WBPhenotype:0000694 hermaphrodite sterile Hermaphrodites fail to generate viable self-progeny and/or cross-progeny.
