After graphene oxide addition, RNAi of mpk-1 resulted in the formation of more severe reduction in lifespan and the more significant induction of ROS production compared with wild-type nematodes. Authors later show that germline-specific RNAi knock-down of mpk-1using rrf-1(pk1417) did not significantly affect the susceptibility to graphene oxide (GO). These results imply that the neuronal MPK-1 may play a crucial role in regulating the response to GO exposure.
