Expression Pattern :

Pattern  RFP-1-specific staining is observed in nuclei, but not in nucleoli, of C. elegans embryos. In L1 larvae, specific RFP-1 staining was observed in the nuclei of pharyngeal, intestinal, and nerve ring cells, but not in nucleoli. The nuclear staining of RFP-1 in most tissues was observed in L2, L3, and L4 animals. In adult animals, RFP-1 was localized to the nuclei of oocytes and germ cells in the syncytial gonad. Again, the nucleoli did not stain for RFP-1. Competition with RFP-1 abolished this signal. RFP-1 nuclear staining was also observed in pharyngeal and intestinal cell nuclei in the head region of the adult animal. Primary Identifier  Expr2879
Remark  In a negative control, embryos incubated only with the secondary anti-rabbit antibody showed very weak background staining. Subcellular Localization  Expressed in nuclei but not in nucleoli.

the feeding organ, a neuro-muscular pump in the head of the animal, used to ingest food, bacteria suspended in liquid, filter them out, grind them up and transport posteriorly into the instestine. pharynx esophagus WBbt:0003681
cell line which early in development becomes differentiated from the remaining somatic cell line, and alone has the potential to undergo meiosis and form gametes. germ line germline WBbt:0005784
a female haploid germ cell. oocyte ovum WBbt:0006797
the most extensive region of neuropil in the animal, consists of a large toroidal bundle of processes. nerve ring circumpharyngeal nerve ring WBbt:0006749
any of 20 large epithelial cells which form a tube and are mostly situated as bilaterally symmetric pairs around the tubular lumen. Each of these cell pairs forms an intestinal ring ( II-IX int rings). The most anterior intestinal ring (int ring I), however, is made of four cells. Intestinal cells contain large nuclei with large nucleoli and numerous autofluorescent granules in their cytoplasm. intestinal cell   WBbt:0005792
