Subcellular Localization  Consistent with the antibody-staining pattern, SPAT-1 was a cytoplasmic protein. Some fraction of SPAT-1 entered the pronuclei during centration and is again released into the cytoplasm upon NEBD. During metaphase SPAT-1 became enriched around kinetochores. However, neither GFP::SPAT-1 nor SPAT-1::GFP were enriched in posterior cells. This could be due to overexpression of the transgene or partial disruption of its function by the GFP moiety.
