| Subcellular Localization | The VAB-23::GFP fusion protein was localized almost exclusively to the cell nuclei. Interestingly, the subnuclear localization of VAB-23::GFP was not uniform but was rather enriched in discrete, rapidly moving punctae, which is characteristic of proteins involved in pre-mRNA processing or mRNA regulation. Co-staining with the DNA-binding dye DAPI indicated that VAB-23::GFP-containing punctae do indeed represent regions of lower DNA content. |
