Expression Pattern :

Pattern  mScarlet::PEZO-1, and PEZO-1::mScarlet were widely expressed from embryonic stages through adulthood. Notably, PEZO-1 is strongly expressed in several tubular tissues, including the pharyngeal-intestinal and spermathecal-uterine valves. Under higher magnification, we observed PEZO-1 on the plasma membranes of oocytes and embryonic cells during a variety of embryonic stages, suggesting PEZO-1 is a transmembrane protein. PEZO-1 is expressed in multiple reproductive tissues, including the germline, somatic oviduct, and spermatheca. Higher magnification imaging of the spermatheca revealed expression of PEZO-1 on sperm membranes as well. Live imaging and detailed analysis of PEZO-1 expression patterns during reproduction revealed that GFP::PEZO-1 is expressed in sheath cells, sperm, both spermathecal valves and the spermathecal bag cells. an accordion-like tube that contains sperm and is the site of oocyte fertilization. spermatheca   WBbt:0005319
A group of six equivalent cells forms a tightly constructed `valve` that links the posterior bulb of the pharynx to the anterior four cells of the intestine. These six cells comprise a small epithelial channel with a cuticular lining in continuity with the pharyngeal cuticle and link the lumen of the pharynx to the large lumen of the anterior intestine. pharyngeal-intestinal valve cardia WBbt:0005767
cell line which early in development becomes differentiated from the remaining somatic cell line, and alone has the potential to undergo meiosis and form gametes. germ line germline WBbt:0005784
five pairs of thin gonadal sheath cells form a single layer covering the germ line component of each arm, each pair occupying a stereotyped position along the gonad proximal-distal axis. gonadal sheath cell   WBbt:0005828
Male haploid germ cell. sperm spermatozoa WBbt:0006798
The components of the gonad that are separate from the germline proper. In hermaphrodite, these include five tissues which are all derived from the somatic primordium : the distal tip cells, the gonadal sheath, the spermatheca, the spermatheca-uterine valve (sp-ut) and the uterus. somatic gonad somatic germline WBbt:0005785
A single syncytium cell of four nuclei makes a valve, connecting spermatheca and uterus of hermaphrodite gonad. spermathecal-uterine valve cell sp-ut cell WBbt:0008217
