NMY-1 antisera revealed that it is indeed highly expressed in the lateral epidermis at the onset of elongation. NMY-1 was also present at the adherens junctions (AJs) of the developing pharynx. As elongation proceeded, NMY-1 became more punctate and organized into filamentous-like structures. Embryos of similar stages stained for actin showed a similar pattern, albeit filamentous structures become apparent earlier.
