Definition  ganglion in the trunk of the body. Name  body ganglion
Primary Identifier  WBbt:0005332

Definition Name Synonym Primary Identifier
Ganglion that lies at the anterior limit of the ventral nerve cord, near the ventral ganglion and nerve ring in the head posterior to the excretory pore. It is open and continuous with the region containing the motoneurons of the ventral cord. In the early L1 this ganglion holds 12 neuron cell bodies plus one neuroblast (Sulston and Horvitz, 1977; White et al., 1986). In the adult animal, the ganglion holds 20 neuron cell bodies. retrovesicular ganglion   WBbt:0005656
ganglion anterior to the anus. preanal ganglion   WBbt:0005448
ganglion on the lateral side, in postior portion of the body, associated with posterior deirid. posterior lateral ganglion posterior lateral ganglia WBbt:0005465

Expr12211 PMK-2 expression was mostly restricted to the nervous system; PMK-2 expression was detected in head, body, and tail ganglia as well as the nerve ring and ventral nerve cord. Faint and diffuse expression of PMK-2 was also observed in the distal tip cell and spermatheca at levels much lower than observed in the nervous system. Importantly, PMK-2 expression was excluded from the intestine, where PMK-1 functions solely in innate immunity.
Expr11074 Coexpression of ast-1, ceh-43, and ceh-20 was detected in at least one nondopaminergic neuron (SDQL). ceh-43 is expressed in all dopaminergic neurons throughout the life of the neurons. Expression can also be observed in some additional head and body neurons as well as nonneuronal cells. This expression was corroborated with immunostaining of endogenous CEH-43 protein using a pan-species anti-Distalless antibody.
