| Subcellular Localization | UNC-31::GFP localized to neuronal cell bodies and axonal projections similarly to other dense-core vesicle components. Intense fluorescence was observed in regions containing synaptic contacts such as the nerve ring and the ventral and dorsal nerve cords. Because these areas are also dense with axonal projections, it was not possible to distinguish whether the UNC-31::GFP was present at synapses. To assess synaptic localization, authors analyzed the presynaptic terminals of the SAB neurons of the head, which have relatively isolated synapses. Colocalization with synaptobrevin (SNB) indicated that UNC-31::GFP is present at sites of synaptic contact. |
