Expression Pattern :

Pattern  nfi-1 transcripts are present in the one-cell and two-cell stages prior to the onset of zygotic transcription, indicating that the transcript is maternally inherited. Expression continues in most cells of the embryo throughout early and mid-embryogenesis but decreases after gastrulation and no expression is seen in L1 larvae. As expected for a maternally inherited transcript, expression of nfi-1 reappears in the adult gonad. Expression of nfi-1 transcripts are also seen in the cytoplasm of gut cells. No signal is seen using control sense probes. This in situ expression pattern indicates that nfi-1 could function both early in embryogenesis and in adult worms. Primary Identifier  Expr4339
Subcellular Localization  Expression of nfi-1 transcripts are also seen in the cytoplasm of gut cells.

1 Anatomy Terms

Definition Name Synonym Primary Identifier
A chain of very large cuboidal cells forming a wide central lumen in which food arrives from the posterior pharynx, is digested, and from which waste products proceed to the rectum. Intestinal rings form in groups of two and four cells surrounding the common lumen; thus the epithelium is only one cell deep at any point, with neighboring cells firmly secured to their neighbors by apical adherens junctions. These cells have very large nuclei and many large vacuoles, yolk granules, and other inclusions; the latter increase in number and electron density as the animal ages. intestine gut WBbt:0005772
