Expression Pattern :

Pattern  Using transcriptional reporters, we found that the nrf-5 promoter (Pnrf-5) drove expression in body wall muscle cells. We also generated NRF-5 translational fusions with or without the secretion signal (Pnrf-5ssGFP::mNRF-5 and Pnrf-5GFP::mNRF-5). Secreted GFP::mNRF-5 (ssGFP::mNRF-5) displayed a diffuse staining pattern and associated with the basal surface of pharyngeal cells and the basal-lateral membranes of the intestine, whereas nonsecretory GFP::mNRF-5 labeled body wall muscle cells but not the intestine. These results suggest that NRF-5 is synthesized in and secreted from muscle cells to recognize apoptotic cells and associate with the basal surface of pharyngeal and intestine cells. Definition Name Synonym Primary Identifier
A chain of very large cuboidal cells forming a wide central lumen in which food arrives from the posterior pharynx, is digested, and from which waste products proceed to the rectum. Intestinal rings form in groups of two and four cells surrounding the common lumen; thus the epithelium is only one cell deep at any point, with neighboring cells firmly secured to their neighbors by apical adherens junctions. These cells have very large nuclei and many large vacuoles, yolk granules, and other inclusions; the latter increase in number and electron density as the animal ages. intestine gut WBbt:0005772
Longitudinal bands of muscle cells surrounding animal body, with one band running in each quadrant of the body, regulated contraction and relaxation of these muscles cause locomotion. body wall musculature body muscle WBbt:0005813

cell destined to die by apoptosis (programmed cell death, PCD). apoptotic cell   WBbt:0006925
