This result showed that either the expression or nuclear envelope localization of Ce-emerin requires Ce-lamin. The background cytoplasmic staining for Ce-emerin appeared to increase in lamin-deficient cells. However, this signal was too weak to rigorously conclude that Ce-emerin dispersed into the ER in the absence of Ce-lamin.
