RNAi :

WormBase ID  WBRNAi00110668 Phenotype Remark  Animals were subjected to elo-5 RNAi at later larval stages (L2-L4). The growing worms became progressively sick. The gonads appeared normal at the L4 and early adult stages, but after fertilization of one to ten oocytes, oogenesis became impaired. Gonad degeneration began with a pronounced vacuolization in the midsection of the gonad followed by the appearance of disorganized clumps of nuclei in the proximal part. An egg-laying defect became apparent and only a few progeny arose from these worms, which then arrested at L1.
Remark  Exact sequence used for RNAi not stated by authors, Ahringer laboratory clone used for curation.
