WormBase Gene ID  ? WBGene00001118 Gene Name  dyf-2
Sequence Name  ? ZK520.3 Brief Description  dyf-2 encodes an ortholog of human WDR19; DYF-2 associates withintraflagellar transport (IFT) particle complex B in sensory cilia, andis required for normal assembly and motion of IFT structures, includingcomplex A particles; consequently, DYF-2 is also required for normalcilial structure and chemosensation; dyf-2 expression is regulated byDAF-19; dyf-2 mutants are longer-lived than normal; this seems tocorrelate with the ability to withstand prolonged heat stress andstarvation in L1 larvae; in mice, WDR19 also localizes to cilia.
Organism  Caenorhabditis elegans Automated Description  Involved in several processes, including chemotaxis; cilium organization; and olfactory behavior. Acts upstream of or within cilium assembly and intraciliary retrograde transport. Located in non-motile cilium. Part of intraciliary transport particle B. Expressed in neurons and oxygen sensory neurons. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in several diseases, including Caroli disease; Senior-Loken syndrome; and asphyxiating thoracic dystrophy 5. Is an ortholog of human WDR19 (WD repeat domain 19).
Biotype  SO:0001217 Genetic Position  III :21.3561 ±0.001796
Length (nt)  ? 11661

Coexpression clique No. 203, sre-33-ZK1025.1_8337, on the genome-wide coexpression clique map for the nematode GPL200 platform. All available microarray datasets for the GPL200 platform (Affymetrix C. elegans Genome Array) were obtained from the GEO repository. This included 2243 individual microarray experiments. These were normalized against each other with the software RMAexpress (Bolstad, 2014). Based on these normalized values, Pearsons correlation coefficients were obtained for each probe-probe pair of the 22,620 probes represented on this array type. The resulting list of correlation coefficients was then ranked to generate the ranked coexpression database with information on each probe represented on the GPL200 platform.   Genes that showed expression levels higher than the corresponding reference sample (L2 all cell reference). A Mann-Whitney U test with an empirical background model and FDR correction for multiple testing was used to detect expressed transcripts (Benjamini and Hochberg 1995). Genes and TARs with an FDR <= 0.05 were reported as expressed above background. Authors detected differentially expressed transcripts using a method based on linear models. Genes and TARs were called differentially expressed if the FDR was <= 0.05 and the fold change (FC) >= 2.0. To more strictly correct for potential false-positives resulting from multiple sample comparisons, authors divided individual FDR estimates by the number of samplesor sample comparisons, respectively. This resulted in an adjusted FDR of 1.3 * 0.0001 for expression above background and of 7.4 * 0.0001 for differential expression. Authors called genes selectively enriched in a given tissue if they met the following requirements: (1) enriched expression in a given tissue (FDR <= 0.05 and FC >= 2.0), (2) fold change versus reference among the upper 40% of the positive FC range observed for this gene across all tissues, and (3) fold-change entropy among the lower 40% of the distribution observed for all genes. 10 Expression Patterns

Remark Reporter Gene Primary Identifier Pattern Subcellular Localization
A translational DYF-2::GFP fusion was found to be localized only in cilia of CSN, thus precluding a confirmation of the cellular expression pattern obtained with the transcriptional dyf-2::gfp fusion or any further cell identification.   Expr4204 dyf-2::gfp expression was observed in only a subset of the ciliated sensory neuron (CSN) class in the worm. GFP signal was observed in seven out of twelve neurons of the amphids, including ASH, ASI, ASJ, ASK, ADL (ciliated neurons that fill with the fluorescent dye DiI) plus two hitherto unidentified amphid neurons. In addition, GFP expression was observed in the phasmid CSN and in neurons identified as AQR and PQR (asymmetric CSN in the head and tail, respectively). No or only very occasional GFP signal was detected in other CSN anterior to the nerve ring in the head of the worm.
