Expression Pattern :

Pattern  COGC-3 was detected in most tissues, including muscle, intestine and hypodermis. COGC-3 expression in the germline was very low, or nil. In whole-mount staining, COGC-3 was strongly expressed in cells of the pharynx, vulva and seam hypodermis, and of the intestine. Primary Identifier  Expr3795
Remark  No signal was detected in cogc-3(k181) mutants, indicating that anti-COGC-3 specifically detected COGC-3 in situ. Subcellular Localization  COGC-3 staining was often prominent in the perinuclear region, which may correspond to the ER or Golgi apparatus. The intracellular distribution of COGC-3 was examined in the body wall muscle cells using a Golgi enzyme, MIG-23/NDPase (a type II membrane protein), as a marker. Some of the anti-COGC-3 signal colocalized with MIG-23-GFP, in particular, at the perinuclear region. The colocalization of the COGC-3 and YFP-TRAM, an ER-marker in the body wall muscle cells, was analyzed. COGC-3 was widely distributed in the cytoplasm and partially colocalized with YFP-TRAM.

Definition Name Synonym Primary Identifier
female genital. vulva   WBbt:0006748
A chain of very large cuboidal cells forming a wide central lumen in which food arrives from the posterior pharynx, is digested, and from which waste products proceed to the rectum. Intestinal rings form in groups of two and four cells surrounding the common lumen; thus the epithelium is only one cell deep at any point, with neighboring cells firmly secured to their neighbors by apical adherens junctions. These cells have very large nuclei and many large vacuoles, yolk granules, and other inclusions; the latter increase in number and electron density as the animal ages. intestine gut WBbt:0005772
the feeding organ, a neuro-muscular pump in the head of the animal, used to ingest food, bacteria suspended in liquid, filter them out, grind them up and transport posteriorly into the instestine. pharynx esophagus WBbt:0003681
a group of hypodermal cells that lie along the apical midline of the hypodermis, at the extreme left and right sides between nose and tail seam cell lateral hypodermis WBbt:0005753
