Expression Pattern :

Pattern  Maximal expression occurred at larval stage L1 and later and was maintained through adulthood. Expression was present throughout the gut, with highest intensity notable in regions just posterior to the pharynx (first intestinal ring) and just anterior to the anus (ninth intestinal ring). Primary Identifier  Expr8601
Remark  In contrast, worms containing transgenes harboring fragments with 275 or fewer nucleotides upstream of the ATG start site did not yield detectable expression . Constructs containing 300 nucleotides upstream of the start site drove expression at 15% of normal levels, thus defining a minimal promoter sequence. Promoters containing 330 nucleotides upstream of the start site exhibited an intermediate level of expression. Picture: Fig. 2.

1 Anatomy Terms

Definition Name Synonym Primary Identifier
A chain of very large cuboidal cells forming a wide central lumen in which food arrives from the posterior pharynx, is digested, and from which waste products proceed to the rectum. Intestinal rings form in groups of two and four cells surrounding the common lumen; thus the epithelium is only one cell deep at any point, with neighboring cells firmly secured to their neighbors by apical adherens junctions. These cells have very large nuclei and many large vacuoles, yolk granules, and other inclusions; the latter increase in number and electron density as the animal ages. intestine gut WBbt:0005772
