| Subcellular Localization | VRK-1 is largely nuclear, based on co-localization with H2B:mCherry, throughout most of the cell cycle. On occasion it appears concentrated at chromatin-associated foci at the nuclear periphery during interphase. Additionally, VRK-1 was observed localized to structures resembling the nuclear envelope in cells that by DNA morphology appear to be in early prophase. Overall, VRK-1 localization in germ cells displays similar patterns of cell cycle-associated localization as described for early embryos. |
