Expression Pattern :

Primary Identifier  Expr10552 Subcellular Localization  HAL-2 protein concentrates in the nuclei of germ cells. HAL-2 staining was first detected in germ cell nuclei before they entered the transition zone and gradually weakened during diplotene until no signal was observed by the end of diakinesis. As the majority of the immunofluorescence signal did not colocalize with DAPI-stained chromatin, nucleoli (data not shown) or synaptonemal complex, the authors infer that HAL-2 is predominantly nucleoplasmic. To coferm antibody localization a functional GFP::HAL-2 transgene was generated. GFP::HAL-2 expressed from this transgene exhibited a similar nucleoplasmic localization in germ cells, although the protein persisted beyond diplotene, likely because of heterologous promoter and 3'UTR sequences.
