Expression Pattern :

Pattern  UNC-16 was broadly expressed throughout the nervous system. By imaging the well-isolated ALM neuron, it was observed that UNC-16 was equally concentrated in its cell soma and its initial segment. The UNC-16 signal dropped off rapidly after the initial segment, but was still sparsely distributed throughout the remaining process and was also sparsely distributed in the dorsal axons of motor neurons in a pattern that did not align with synaptic sites. The localization of native UNC-16 is thus consistent with a function in the axon initial segment; however, it is also present on sparsely distributed structures distal to the initial segment and thus may also function at other locations. Immunolocalization of native UNC-16 showed that it is present in the synaptic region of axons. Primary Identifier  Expr11021
