Phenotype Remark  RNAi against ifb-1 in larvae led to the formation of cysts of variable size along the excretory canal or its complete collapse. Time-lapse analysis suggests that loss of canal integrity involved the disappearance of the entire structure, leaving a thin cytoplasmic thread lacking the lumen (Fig. 4d and Supplementary Video S8). Thus, the intermediate filament IFB-1 is essential to maintain apical membrane integrity. Remark  Exact sequence used for RNAi not stated by authors, Ahringer laboratory clone used for curation.
