In addition iron chelation had no influence on normal lifespan but prevented the longevity enhancing effects of unc-62 RNAi.These experiments suggest that iron availability is essential to UNC-62 suppression-mediated longevity phenotypes and indicates that UNC-62 is involved in iron metabolism.
