Gene :

WormBase Gene ID  ? WBGene00002891 Gene Name  let-767
Sequence Name  ? C56G2.6 Brief Description  let-767 encodes a steroid dehydrogenase required for embryogenesis, molting, and female reproduction; LET-767 is orthologous to human HSD17B3 (OMIM:605573, mutated in pseudohermaphroditism), HSD17B12 (OMIM:609574), and HSDL1; in vitro, LET-767 catalytically converts androstenedione and estrone into testosterone and estradiol, and in vivo probably catalyzes the synthesis of endogeneous steroid hormones from cholesterol; LET-767 is expressed from embryos to adults, and is zygotically expressed in the intestine, but a maternal-effect lethal allele (let-767[s2464]) also exists, indicating that LET-767 is probably also provided maternally; LET-767 is paralogous to STDH-1/-4; some let-767 transcripts are spliced to SL2, indicating that let-767 may belong to an operon with C56G2.7.
Organism  Caenorhabditis elegans Automated Description  Enables long-chain-fatty-acyl-CoA reductase activity and testosterone dehydrogenase [NAD(P)+] activity. Involved in several processes, including establishment or maintenance of epithelial cell apical/basal polarity; long-chain fatty acid biosynthetic process; and steroid metabolic process. Located in apical cortex and endoplasmic reticulum. Expressed in hypodermis; intestine; and pharynx. Used to study obesity. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in 17-beta hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase 3 deficiency and Alzheimer's disease. Is an ortholog of human HSD17B12 (hydroxysteroid 17-beta dehydrogenase 12).
Biotype  SO:0001217 Genetic Position  III :-1.38862 ±0.00385

Maternal class (M): genes that are called present in at least one of the three PC6 replicates. A modified Welch F statistic was used for ANOVA. For each gene, regressed error estimates were substituted for observed error estimates. The substitution is justified by the lack of consistency among the most and least variable genes at each time point. Regressed error estimates were abundance-dependent pooled error estimates that represented a median error estimate from a window of genes of similar abundance to the gene of interest. A randomization test was used to compute the probability Pg of the observed F statistic for gene g under the null hypothesis that developmental time had no effect on expression. P-values were not corrected for multiple testing. [cgc5767]:expression_class_M
Transcripts that showed significantly decreased expression in vit-2(ac3); zcIs4, comparing to parenting strain SJ4005 [zcIs4]. Differential gene expression analysis was then performed on normalized samples. Genes exhibiting at least twofold change and a false-discovery rate (FDR) of 1% or less were considered differentially expressed. WBPaper00051305:vit-2(ac3)_downregulated
Strictly maternal class (SM): genes that are the subset of maternal genes that are not also classified as embryonic. [cgc5767]:expression_class_SM

Picture: Figure S1.   Expr8146 Expression of LET-767::GFP was observed in embryos. Strong expression was detected in larval intestine. Weaker expression was detected in pharyngeal region and in the hypodermis. Subcellular localization of LET-767::GFP was detected in intestinal cells. Accumulation of LET-767::GFP at the apical surface of intestinal cells was observed.
Expr16547 To trace the expression of LET-767, we generated a single-copy integrated strain for the translational expression of let-767::gfp. The green fluorescence of LET-767::GFP was observed mainly in the intestine and hypodermis, the major sites for lipid synthesis and storage (Watts and Ristow, 2017). LET-767 is expressed on both the endoplasmic reticulum and lipid droplets.
No GO_term assigned.   Expr2698 Transgenic animals carrying this construct express gfp in the gut, with a notable absence of expression in the gut nuclei. This pattern of expression is seen from the first larval stage through to adulthood in both hermaphrodites and males. GFP was not detected at any stage of embryogenesis. Expression is absent from the gut nuclei.
