Gene :

WormBase Gene ID  ? WBGene00224104 Gene Name  Bma-dpy-18.2
Sequence Name  ? Bm3843 Organism  Brugia malayi
Automated Description  Predicted to enable L-ascorbic acid binding activity; iron ion binding activity; and procollagen-proline 4-dioxygenase activity. Predicted to be located in endoplasmic reticulum. Expressed in body wall musculature; head; hypodermis; and vulva. Is an ortholog of C. elegans dpy-18. In C. elegans, dpy-18 is involved in several processes, including cuticle development involved in collagen and cuticulin-based cuticle molting cycle; embryo development; and embryonic body morphogenesis. Biotype  SO:0001217

3 Expression Patterns

Remark Reporter Gene Primary Identifier Pattern Subcellular Localization
Assayed in C. elegans.   Expr11950 Expression was found consistently in hypodermal cells of all lines examined. GFP expression was particularly prominent in the hypodermal cell nuclei hyp5, hyp6, and hyp7 of the head and in the pair of hyp7 cell nuclei in the tail of adult worms. Using sensitive staining techniques for the detection of b-galactosidase activity, expression was also detected in larval stages, again strongly in the head and tail regions. The lacZ expression was less pronounced in the hypodermal cells of the body, with expression being detected in the hypodermal cell nuclei hyp4, hyp5, hyp6, and hyp7 of the head. With prolonged staining (overnight at room temperature) lacZ expression was also observed in the vulval cells of the adult, which are of hypodermal origin, in the adult body wall muscle cells, and in embryonic stages.
Expr11949 B. malayi phy-1 is expressed in L1 (microfilaria), at all time points examined throughout L3 and L4 development, and in both adult sexes.
Expr11517 Bma-phy-1 is abundantly expressed in all stages examined.
