• Pattern: sfrp-1 is expressed in four stripes of cells in the head region, an anterior specific expression that is already present at the 100-cell stage of embryonic development. Using a muscle-specific marker, these cells were identified as head body wall muscle cells. In addition, we found that sfrp-1 is expressed at low levels in a single posterior ventral nerve cord neuron and occasionally in one or more cells around the rectum.
