Expression Pattern :

Pattern  In worms expressing mgl-2::GFP as an extra-chromosomal array GFP fluorescence was identified in the nerve ring, tail neurons and the pharyngeal nervous system, where it was expressed in NSML/R. The analysis of mgl-2::GFP transgenic lines also identified GFP expression in the glutamatergic pharyngeal neuron I5, anterior and posterior intestine, pharyngeal-intestinal valve and pharyngeal muscle. However, the expression of GFP in these tissues was not consistent between transgenic lines analysed. Primary Identifier  Expr12337

A group of six equivalent cells forms a tightly constructed `valve` that links the posterior bulb of the pharynx to the anterior four cells of the intestine. These six cells comprise a small epithelial channel with a cuticular lining in continuity with the pharyngeal cuticle and link the lumen of the pharynx to the large lumen of the anterior intestine. pharyngeal-intestinal valve cardia WBbt:0005767
A chain of very large cuboidal cells forming a wide central lumen in which food arrives from the posterior pharynx, is digested, and from which waste products proceed to the rectum. Intestinal rings form in groups of two and four cells surrounding the common lumen; thus the epithelium is only one cell deep at any point, with neighboring cells firmly secured to their neighbors by apical adherens junctions. These cells have very large nuclei and many large vacuoles, yolk granules, and other inclusions; the latter increase in number and electron density as the animal ages. intestine gut WBbt:0005772
type of cells that make up muscle layers in the pharynx. pharyngeal muscle cell   WBbt:0005451
neuron with its cell body situated in the tail, posterior to rectum. tail neuron   WBbt:0006759
Neuron class of one pharyngeal interneuron, posterior sensory. I5 neuron I5 WBbt:0004740
the most extensive region of neuropil in the animal, consists of a large toroidal bundle of processes. nerve ring circumpharyngeal nerve ring WBbt:0006749
Pharyngeal neurosecretory motorneuron, contain serotonin NSMR lineage name: ABaraapppaav WBbt:0004446
Pharyngeal neurosecretory motorneuron, contain serotonin NSML lineage name: ABaraapapaav WBbt:0004457
The pharyngeal nervous system is composed of 20 pharyngeal neurons which lie completely within the pharynx. pharyngeal nervous system   WBbt:0005440
