• Pattern: In males, in addition to DVC which was seen consistently, up to 4 other cells in the tail expressed ceh-63prom::gfp. Expression in these additional cells started from the end of the L4 stage, and strengthened into the adult, but was inconsistent. In some of the males, one or 2 expressing cells, in addition to DVC, had GFP labelled axons extending into the ventral nerve cord. In others, the GFP in the additional cells was much weaker and appeared limited to the cell body. Among 26 specifically examined, 3, 6, 9, 6 and 2 males had DVC plus 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4 additional cells, respectively. Because the expression was highly variable and GFP was not shown in earlier stages, specific cell identities were not determined.
