Expression Pattern :

Pattern  CTBP-1 expression was found to begin during early embryogenesis at approxi- mately 350 min post-fertilisation. From the three-fold stage of embryo- genesis, through larval development and into adulthood, CTBP-1 expression was observed in both the head and the tail of the worm, and in a row of cells along the ventral side of the worm. The pattern of expression mirrors the distribution of neuronal cell bodies, which show a clustering in several ganglia in the head and tail, and in the ventral nerve cord (VNC). These observations revealed that CTBP-1 is particularly abundant in neuronal cells. In addition to the prominent expression of CTBP-1 in the nervous system, weak expression was also observed in the hypodermis. Using the lips-7 transcriptional reporter, co-localisation of lips-7 and CTBP-1 expression in the putative neuronal or neuronal support cells in which lips-7 is expressed in the head was not observed. Also, there was no co-localisation of lips-7 and CTBP-1 expression in neuronal cells located in the nerve ring or along the body, in which CTBP-1 is expressed. Co-localisation of lips-7 transcription and CTBP-1 expression was observed solely in hypodermal nuclei. Using the lips-7 translational reporter we observed co-localisation of LIPS-7 and CTBP-1 in a single neuron in the nerve ring and in the hypodermis. Primary Identifier  Expr12092
Subcellular Localization  Worms carrying the pctbp-1:: ctbp-1::gfp (ausIs1) transgene were stained with the DNA-binding dye DAPI and co-localisation of the GFP and DAPI signals was detected, confirming nuclear localisation of the CTBP-1 protein.
