After NEBD, GFP::MDF-2 remains present as a "cloud" of diffuse fluorescence surrounding the chromatin until anaphase onset, at which point it rapidly dissipates.

During the first embryonic cleavage division in C. elegans, MDF-2 localized around the DNA, in the spindle region, and at the centrosomes, in a cell-cycle-dependent manner. About 300 min after fertilization, strong MDF-2 staining appeared in the nuclei of gut-cell precursors in embryos.
