• Pattern: Expression first detected in gastrulating embryo. Expression continues as the intestinal cells and the precursors of the pharynx form a central cylinder with the myoblasts filling in between this cylinder and the outer layer of cells. Strong expression by the myoblasts is detected. In larvae, epi-1 is expressed in the body wall, vulva and anal depressor muscles, as well as intestinal cells and in somatic cells of the gonad.
