• Pattern: egl-20 was mostly localized to the posterior half of L1 larvae, in a pattern that was already present at the comma stage of embryonic development. egl-20 was expressed in the rectal epithelial cells K, F, U and B, in the anal depressor muscle and in P11/12, which is in agreement with previous reporter studies (Whangbo and Kenyon, 1999). However, it was found that in L1 larvae, egl-20 was also expressed in the posterior ventral body wall muscle quadrants VL23 and VR24 and the rectal epithelial cell Y.
