Expression Pattern :

Pattern  dhs-21::gfp fluorescence was especially prominent in the intestine, utse, gonadal sheath cells and sp-ut valve. First, diffused GFP fluorescence was detected as early as two-fold embryos, and the expression in intestine was observed at L1 through L3 stage. Then, the utse, gonadal sheath cells and sp-ut valve expression became obvious at L4. The spatial expression of intestine, utse and gonad continues up to 5-7 days. Male adults displayed a similar expression pattern, except for the utse, which is absent in males. Primary Identifier  Expr9279

Definition Name Synonym Primary Identifier
A chain of very large cuboidal cells forming a wide central lumen in which food arrives from the posterior pharynx, is digested, and from which waste products proceed to the rectum. Intestinal rings form in groups of two and four cells surrounding the common lumen; thus the epithelium is only one cell deep at any point, with neighboring cells firmly secured to their neighbors by apical adherens junctions. These cells have very large nuclei and many large vacuoles, yolk granules, and other inclusions; the latter increase in number and electron density as the animal ages. intestine gut WBbt:0005772
five pairs of thin gonadal sheath cells form a single layer covering the germ line component of each arm, each pair occupying a stereotyped position along the gonad proximal-distal axis. gonadal sheath cell   WBbt:0005828
membranous cell attaches the uterus to the lateral epidermis (seam) and forms a thin laminar process dorsal to the vulva. formed by fusion of eight pi cell progeny and AC. uterine seam cell utse WBbt:0006789
A single syncytium cell of four nuclei makes a valve, connecting spermatheca and uterus of hermaphrodite gonad. spermathecal-uterine valve cell sp-ut cell WBbt:0008217

The C. elegans life stage spanning 620-800min(hatch) after first cleavage at 20 Centigrade. Cell number remains at ~560 cells, with some new cells generated and some cells go through programmed cell death. A stage after elongation is over. The last stage of embryogenesis. Also called pre-hatched embryo, late embryo or morphogenetic embryo. fully-elongated embryo Ce WBls:0000021
