Expression Pattern :

Pattern  Both smf-1::GFP and SMF-1::GFP were prominently expressed in the anterior and posterior intestine and associated gland cells. A strong expression was observed in the anchor cell (AC) during larval life and in the adult proximal uterus resulting from the fusion of AC with uv1, uv2 and utse cells. GFP signal was also consistently seen in the adult spermatheca. Fainter expression was observed in the major epidermis hyp7, in the pharyngeal muscles, and in a subset of anterior sensory neurons, ring neurons, and posterior-head neurons. The GFP signal was detected from late embryogenesis to adult stage, with generally higher expression levels in young larvae (L1 stage). Primary Identifier  Expr8859
Remark  Picture: Fig 6, Fig 7. Subcellular Localization  SMF-1::GFP and SMF-3::GFP were localized at the apical plasma membrane in all epithelia in which they were expressed.

Definition Name Synonym Primary Identifier
an accordion-like tube that contains sperm and is the site of oocyte fertilization. spermatheca   WBbt:0005319
A chain of very large cuboidal cells forming a wide central lumen in which food arrives from the posterior pharynx, is digested, and from which waste products proceed to the rectum. Intestinal rings form in groups of two and four cells surrounding the common lumen; thus the epithelium is only one cell deep at any point, with neighboring cells firmly secured to their neighbors by apical adherens junctions. These cells have very large nuclei and many large vacuoles, yolk granules, and other inclusions; the latter increase in number and electron density as the animal ages. intestine gut WBbt:0005772
type of cells that make up muscle layers in the pharynx. pharyngeal muscle cell   WBbt:0005451
neuron with its cell body situated in the head, excluding the pharynx. head neuron   WBbt:0006751
The organ in which the eggs are developed and protected until laid. uterus   WBbt:0006760
the most extensive region of neuropil in the animal, consists of a large toroidal bundle of processes. nerve ring circumpharyngeal nerve ring WBbt:0006749
Secretory gland cell of the pharynx Pharyngeal gland cell   WBbt:0005788

uterine-vulval cell proximal to the vulva. uv1   WBbt:0006791
anchor cell, induces vulva, part of hermaphrodite gonad. anchor cell AC WBbt:0004522
membranous cell attaches the uterus to the lateral epidermis (seam) and forms a thin laminar process dorsal to the vulva. formed by fusion of eight pi cell progeny and AC. uterine seam cell utse WBbt:0006789
neuron that senses external stimuli and transduce them to signals internal to the organism. sensory neuron   WBbt:0005759
