• Pattern: In transgenic animals that express VAV-1::GFP, strong GFP fluorescence was observed in the pharynx, proximal gonad, spermatheca, intestine, and rectal epithelia. In the pharynx, VAV-1::GFP was observed in most cell types, including muscle cells, marginal cells, epithelial cells, neurons, and gland cells. In the gonad, VAV-1::GFP was observed in the contractile sheath cells adjacent to the spermatheca. The expression of VAV-1::GFP in the intestine was limited to the four most posterior cells (int8 and int9) and the three rectal epithelial cells. Additionally, VAV-1::GFP expression was observed in the distal gonad, body-wall muscle, and vulval epithelia.
