Expression Pattern :

Pattern  Consistent with the previous report on the hermaphrodites' expression, we confirmed here that for both sexes, all three of pck-1-expressing reporters express in head and body wall muscles. However, we found that the reporters also express in ventral cord and preanal neurons and nerve ring neurons per side in the head. In the tail region, both larval males and larval/adult hermaphrodites express the transgenes in the dorsal rectal ganglion and three neurons per side in the tail. The adult male shows additional expression in sex-specific neurons of the ray, postcloacal, and spicule sensilla. None of the constructs promote expression in male or hermaphrodite sex muscles, intestine, or pharyngeal muscles. Primary Identifier  Expr15024

Definition Name Synonym Primary Identifier
a large process bundle that runs along the vental mid-line extending from the ventral region of the nerve ring. ventral nerve cord ventral cord WBbt:0005829
Longitudinal bands of muscle cells surrounding animal body, with one band running in each quadrant of the body, regulated contraction and relaxation of these muscles cause locomotion. body wall musculature body muscle WBbt:0005813
neuron with its cell body situated in the tail, posterior to rectum. tail neuron   WBbt:0006759
the most extensive region of neuropil in the animal, consists of a large toroidal bundle of processes. nerve ring circumpharyngeal nerve ring WBbt:0006749
anterior-most body region containing the pharynx. head   WBbt:0005739
a bilateral pair of sensilla immediately posterior of the cloaca. postcloacal sensillum   WBbt:0005487
the ganglion that lies above and behind the rectum in the tail, in close continuity with the anal hypodermal ridge. It contains 3 neuron cell bodies (DVA, DVB and DVC) that send their neuronal processes into the ventral nerve cord via dorso-rectal commissures that encircle the anus. The ganglion contains no local neuropil in the hermaphrodite. In the adult male tail, this ganglion gains additional neurons and some local neuropil. dorso-rectal ganglion   WBbt:0005212
ganglion anterior to the anus. preanal ganglion   WBbt:0005448
neuron in the male ray. ray neuron   WBbt:0006971
Gonochoristic organism that can produce male gametes. male male organism WBbt:0007850
Sensory neuron of copulatory spicule in male, cilliated, open to outside at tip of spicule. spicule neuron SP neuron WBbt:0005831
Multi-cellular organism that can produce both male and female gametes. hermaphrodite hermaphroditic organism WBbt:0007849
