Expression Pattern :

Pattern  Expression was detected in a few nuclei in the head as the embryo reached morphogenesis stage at ~300 minutes of development. Expression was identified in more and more nuclei as development proceeded, so that by the 1 1/2-fold stage a large number of neuronal cells in the head and a few cells in the pharynx expressed zag-1::YFP. At this stage expression was also prominent in motorneurons in the ventral cord and in neurons in tail ganglia. Expression was maintained during the 3-fold stage, but reduced to undetectable levels in most cells before hatching, when only a few cells in the head still expressed zag-1::YFP. In the L1/L2 stage expression was detected transiently in postembryonic motorneurons. Expression was maintained in a few head neurons throughout the entire life cycle. Pzag-1::YFP construct was expressed predominantly in neurons in head and tail ganglia, starting approximately midway through embryogenesis. In some of these neurons expression was maintained throughout development. Additional expression was found consistently in the intestinal and anal depressor muscles during all life stages as well as occasionally in body-wall muscles during embryogenesis. Primary Identifier  Expr2628
Subcellular Localization  zag-1::YFP signal was detected only in the nuclei of cells.

neuron with cell body associated with the ventral nerve cord. ventral cord neuron ventral cord motoneuron WBbt:0005300
Longitudinal bands of muscle cells surrounding animal body, with one band running in each quadrant of the body, regulated contraction and relaxation of these muscles cause locomotion. body wall musculature body muscle WBbt:0005813
the feeding organ, a neuro-muscular pump in the head of the animal, used to ingest food, bacteria suspended in liquid, filter them out, grind them up and transport posteriorly into the instestine. pharynx esophagus WBbt:0003681
neuron with its cell body situated in the head, excluding the pharynx. head neuron   WBbt:0006751
a single, H-shaped cell which lies just above the anus and connects the roof of the anal canal to the dorsal bodywall; its contractions act to increase the size of the anal opening by lifting the roof of the rectum and hence facilitate expulsion of intestinal contents. anal depressor muscle dilator muscle WBbt:0004292
neuron with its cell body situated in the tail, posterior to rectum. tail neuron   WBbt:0006759
intestinal muscle cell, attach to intestine and body wall anterior to anus intestinal muscle stomato-intestinal muscle WBbt:0005796
